There is no script for life. Marriage isn't right for everyone, a 9-5 isn't best for everything, one job for the rest of your life or having kids or living in one place won't suit all. My ability to resist conforming to the script, to resist trying to squeeze into society's binary boxes or answer invalid questions and write fresh rules for how my life will be lived is unquestionably much of the reason I found success and happiness in the way I did. It goes against conventional thinking, but with staggering rates of depression, marital breakdowns, burnout, anxiety and purposelessness, maybe we need some more unconventional thinking.
